Synopsis:
Dickey spent the last years of his life working on Crux, the sequel to his novel Alnilam. The novel was
only partially finished and Dickey called it Crux Meridionis or Crux Australis. He planned to trace the
journey of the Alnilam characters Harbelis and Shears to air bases around the South Pacific and to show how the Alnilam group conquered the Pacific night raids.
In the beginning Harbelis watches jumping fish from a ship and then goes into the story of washing out of pilot school and going to radar school, which mirrors
